Hi all
I wonder if anybody relates to the following situation:
- I have hearing loss by otosclerosis, and i had tinnitus for 8 years, very low level loudness (maybe a 1 out of 10) never bothered me.
- Then, in September 2022, i change my old hearing aids for a new and more powerful setof hearing aids from widex, and my tinnitus agravate tremendously.
- I used the new widex hearing aids for 5 weeks and during that time my tinnitus worsen so much that it becomes a 9 out of 10.
- I stopped using the widex hearing aids in october 2022 (5 weeks after i started using them) returning to my old hearing aids, and since then my tinnitus stopped agravating and had become better over time, now it's maybe a 4 or 5 out of 10
Does anybody else experienced a similar situation - hearing aids agravating tinnitus?
Does anybody know a similar case?
Best regards

That's interesting. I know some hearing aids also provide background noise. Do and of yours do that? Maybe somehow the more powerful hearing aids aggravated your ears somehow? I don't know but it is interesting. Thanks for sharing.

No, those more powerful hearing aids from widex didn't have any background noise for tinnitus.
My tinnitus for 8 years was totally nonbothersome.
Just after i start using the widex hearing aids in september of 2022 that my tinnitus aggravated. After i stop using them after those 5 weeks, my tinnitus started to lower again.
I don't have any doubt that my tinnitus brutal aggravation was because the new hearing aids from widex i had used.
But why the old hearing aids don't aggravate my tinnitus and the widex ones did?
Because they were badly set by the hearing care professional?
Or was something else, like some kind of hardware of the widex hearing aids?
I have to figure this out, because sooner or later, i will have to change hearing aids.
Thank you for your answer David, best regards
